Painting On Burlap

Since being home from Paris, I have often thought about changing my downstairs half bathroom in to a Paris theme. There were just lots of things I loved about Paris, and I got some great pictures I could use, and there are some cute Paris things on etsy and at the stores...plus I got a cute little clock in Paris that doesn't have a home yet! So I've decided I'm going for it! My first step was to make something to fill the wall behind the toilet. I had lots of 16x20 sized boards that the hubby cut me, burlap, paint and vinyl! I had seen something really cute at hobby lobby that was a little similar to what I ended up doing but it was far too small to fill the space I needed. So I got to work!

First I went to the craft room and cut out an Eiffel Tower and the word Paris on my vinyl machine. I peeled the opposite part of the vinyl that I normally would so I would have a stencil. What I did next didn't work out so great. I painted the board and used spray adhesive to put the burlap down then painted....

Well....as I pulled the vinyl off the burlap came off and bubbled. Then I had to redo it all! It was kind of a hot sticky, furry mess!
What I recommend doing is taping your burlap to the board (it doesn't matter if paint gets on it, you'll be painting it again anyways!) Place the vinyl on your burlap and paint! Once it's dry, pull the vinyl off! Then paint your board. Using spray adhesive, spray a small amount to the wood to attach the burlap. Then place a nail in each corner! (I used kind of rustic looking nails.) And...you are done!
Don't get a little to paint happy =)

Here is the finished project! I love it & can't wait to finish the rest!

Puppy Party!

A few weeks ago my friend threw he daughter a Puppy party and asked if I'd help make a few items! Just thought I'd share what I helped out with! I still have yet to see the pics from the actual party...I bet it was SUPER CUTE!

I made this sign using, paper, a dollar store frame, some vinyl, and ribbon.
These dog bowls were found at one of the dollar stores in the colors of the party....what a score! Just added some vinyl to make em even cuter!
I also made this banner! Have I mentioned yet....I LOVE making banners! They are so time consuming, but I'm always happy with the end result!
This bowl had some chex muddy mix! Cute huh?!
I love the fun bright colors for this puppy party! Thanks Jenny for letting me make these and for the cute hair bows I got in return! Check out her shop for some super cute headbands!

Mozarella & Tomato Sandwich

When my mom and I were in London and Paris we went to Starbucks quite a bit for lunch because we could get some free wifi...it's hard not having internet around whenever ya want it...lol! One time when we were there we got the yummiest sandwich, I can't quite remember the name so I'm calling it the Mozzarella and Tomato Sandwich...sounds good to me! I wrote down what was in it because it was soooo yummy to me. Not sure if they had a secret ingredient or anything in it, but I figured out the basics!
Looks Yummy right??? Wanna know how to make this yummy sandwich???
Starbucks Copy Cat Sandwich- Mozzarella and Tomato Sandwich
-2 slices mozzarella cheese
-1 large slice of tomato, or a few small ones, or more if you really love tomatoes
-2 slices of desired bread, I used the Orrow Wheat Sandwich Thins
-1-2 tsp basil pesto
-1/2 tsp or less of butter

Here's what you do:
-Butter the outside of both pieces of bread.
-Spread the pesto on each slice of bread (the inner part of course).
-Place Mozzarella Cheese on bottom piece of bread, then tomato, then cheese, then the other slice of bread.
-Cook it just like you would a grilled cheese sandwich!

There ya have it! Simple and sooooooo yummy! I'm actually eating one right now! Enjoy!
